Our official vehicle is a Sachsenring Trabant 601 Universal station wagon from East Germany. This one was built in 1988, although the original design is from 1962.
Very little changed in the 26 years - why fix something that is already perfect?
The license plate OB 22-43 points to the district Bad Salzungen in Suhl county (now in Thuringia). This two letter combination was introduced in 1974.

Out with the plug.
After extensive research, I found that this ISO 68 is exactly what I need.
Draining the old fluid. It was pitch black.
Time to refill!
The hole usually holds a screw. Take it out and wait for transmission fluid to drip out. Once that happens means that there's enough inside.
Time to redo the brakes: I started in January.

Here is the old valve with one bolt drilled out. I used brute force on the others.
Time to install the new shoes.

So hard to get off.
